WHY WE USE NATURAL RUBBER

Rubber stamps are not always made from natural rubber. Some stamps are made out of a plastic called photopolymer. Photopolymer makes a nice stamp, but it doesn't react well with many inks. Inks meant for anything other than paper will damage photopolymer. Check our page on ink for more information. Some big office supply stores sell rubber stamp inks and pads that will damage photopolymer. We can't tell you which two brands don't work well (we're afraid of being sued), but we can tell you if buy a cheap ink, you get a cheap ink. That, and you should check our prices, maybe we aren't that much more expensive.

What's so great about stamps made from natural rubber?
Natural rubber will work with almost all inks meant for rubber stamps. Regular ink is meant for paper. Other inks have different chemicals to make them work on different surfaces. These other inks are corrosive to rubber. We recommend you clean you stamp with stamp cleaner when you're done using them.

Synthentic rubber will work with all inks without being damaged. We will only make stamps out of synthenic rubber if absolutely necessary. It costs at least triple to make a stamp out of synthenic rubber, so we'd prefer you try natural rubber first.
